2021 Vitality T20 Blast – Sunday 20th June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Vitality Blast will continue on Sunday afternoon should the band of rain that is lingering over the UK allow it to do so, and it will see some of the teams in action reach the halfway mark of their group campaign.

With the World Test Championship final going on that has the attention of the TV so we are relying on the county streams to be able to watch the action over the course of the afternoon. They are perfectly good quality though.

North Group

The Birmingham Bears begin the afternoon on top of the pile in the North Group and they have the chance to maintain that position when they head up north to take on a Durham side who are making a good fist of things this season and sit third going into the day. Yorkshire are the team in between the two and they have a home match with Derbyshire to get stuck into on Sunday afternoon. The match of the day might come from Old Trafford though where early pacesetters Lancashire welcome the defending champions Nottinghamshire while at Wantage Road the two winless sides look to get a bit of confidence back when they play each other as Northamptonshire take on Leicestershire.

South Group

The top two are not in action in the South Group on Sunday afternoon so Kent have the chance to return to the summit of the table when they go up against the 2019 champions Essex, whose season hasn’t really caught fire just yet. The other match in the group sees Gloucestershire looking to cement their place in the top four of the table when they host a Hampshire side who the wheels have come right up from their glory days.

Betting

I’ll go with the one bet over the course of this match and that is the odds against on Leicestershire beating Northamptonshire. It isn’t always the wisest idea in the world to bet on a match in which the teams competing have played 10 matches between them and only have one point in those games courtesy of a washout but I do think there is a bit of value in Leicestershire, who have shown more in their games than Northamptonshire.

The big concern for Northants is their batting. They have been bowled out for 115 and restricted to 141/8 in their last two matches. They will hope to find form with the bat here because Leicestershire are leaking runs left right and centre, but so were Derbyshire and Northants only made that 141/8 against them. To be fair to Leicestershire, although they have lost all five matches this season, in Lancashire, Birmingham, Durham and Yorkshire they might well have lost to the four qualifiers in four of those matches. The good thing is they are batting well and if they can take advantage of Northants’ batting woes and slightly light looking line up in the absence of Josh Cobb, I think the Foxes can win this at odds against.
