2016 UK Championship Snooker – Day 7 Betting Preview

It is the last day of four table action at the UK Championship on Tuesday with eight more matches on show over the two sessions of play at the Barbican Centre in York as the last 32 draws to a close. We saw some excellent snooker on Monday on a day where the big names all survived and we’re set for plenty more on Tuesday.

Afternoon Session

Two former world champions occupy the TV tables in the afternoon session. The main match sees Mark Williams taking on Ricky Walden in what should be a good battle while the other live game sees Shaun Murphy playing Dominic Dale.

Away from the cameras we have two more seasoned campaigners playing when Matthew Stevens takes on Joe Perry. The other match sees the giant killer of the last round, Oliver Lines, taking on Jimmy Robertson.

Evening Session

Ding Junhui is the star attraction in the evening session. He is probably still wondering how he made it through the first round but he can’t dwell on that too much because his opponent Jamie Jones is very dangerous. The other TV table looks another great match as Mark Allen faces Ryan Day.

The other two tables are also in action with Zhang Anda and Mitchell Mann battling it out for the right to face Mark Selby in the next round while Stephen Maguire takes on the five century man Fergal O’Brien. It will be interesting to see how Fergal backs up that stunning performance at the weekend.

Betting

There are two more bets I like on Tuesday which will hopefully back up the two winners from Monday nicely. Just like on Monday there is a bet in each session and the afternoon one revolves around the Mark Williams vs Ricky Walden match.

The last three proper tournament matches between these two have all gone to a deciding frame and there are a couple of other meetings they’ve had which have gone the distance as well so I’m not expecting a quick conclusion to this one. Both look to be playing well both in coming here and during this tournament so we should be in for a high quality and tight match which goes beyond 9.5 frames as per their trend.

In the evening while I respect Ryan Day I really like the snooker that Mark Allen is playing now. You would argue correctly that he didn’t look good in Northern Ireland but the fact he made the quarter final there under extreme pressure was certainly a positive. He definitely played well in China and at the Champion of Champions though and has already hit a 147 this week.

Day has suffered a couple of first round defeats coming into this match so it would be understandable if he has a slight confidence issue. If that isn’t bad enough he has lost eight of his last nine matches against Allen, only twice getting to a deciding frame, so this is a match up which clearly benefits the Northern Irishman and I’m going to ride that record.
