2017-18 Premier League – Bournemouth vs Man Utd Betting Preview

The midweek set of matches in the Premier League continue on Wednesday evening when the side leading the league behind Manchester City face a lengthy trip when Manchester United head to Bournemouth.

In truth there isn’t a whole lot on this match in terms of positions for next season but United will probably be eager to win to keep themselves ahead in the race to finish second in the table. Bournemouth have the chance to upset one of the big guns so hopefully we will get a decent game of football.

Bournemouth

The Cherries go into this match with just one win in their last eight matches and that was only against a woeful West Brom side so there isn’t a huge amount of merit to that. Therefore it is fair to say they are not in the best of form and they never really offered a blow on Liverpool at the weekend let alone come close to landing one.

To be fair that was a surprise because Bournemouth usually have a real good go at the bigger sides and in front of their own fans I would imagine they will feel the onus is on them to have a go and entertain here. To be fair on 38pts they are completely safe so their performance will be about how they want to play rather than any pressure.

Man Utd

I don’t know how important it is to Manchester United to finish second but I would imagine it is still something they would like to do and if it is then this is their game in hand of those chasing them and their chance to put a bit of distance between themselves and those sides. They will move four points ahead of Liverpool with a win here.

While you would expect them to want to finish as high as possible it might just be that the air has come out of their balloon now. They have seen Man City win the title and their performance against West Brom on Sunday was not one of a side who are motivated to finish the campaign strongly. There may be an incentive for some in this match though with a cup semi-final spot up for grabs at the weekend.

Team News

Adam Smith and Junior Stanislas remain on the sidelines for Bournemouth but there is an outside chance that Tyrone Mings could feature having recently returned to training.

Jose Mourinho has confirmed he will shake up his side ahead of their date at Wembley Stadium at the weekend. Scott McTominay and Daley Blind are among those expected to be recalled while there could be a start for Marcus Rashford. Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba are not expected to start.

Betting

I have to say there is nothing that appeals to me in this match. Maybe when the teams are announced a small anytime scorer investment on someone who comes in might be worth a go but even then I’m not massively motivated to bet just in case we get a damp squib of a match like we got last night.

Bournemouth are bang out of form at the minute and could be there for the taking but United are going to have their focus on the weekend so how much they will put in remains to be seen. There’s a lot of football in 2018 and we don’t need to bet on all of it. This is one time to keep our powder dry.
