2017-18 Premier League – Saturday 21st October Matches Betting Preview

The latest set of Premier League matches continues on Saturday with seven more matches in the top flight. We head towards the quarter mark of the campaign in this set of fixtures and with four of the top five in action over the course of the day there should be much to enjoy.

As ever on a Saturday we have a couple of live matches and three kick off times to get stuck into which should provide plenty of betting opportunities.

Early kick off

The action all begins at Stamford Bridge where the champions Chelsea play host to Watford. Heading into the season you would have got decent odds on Watford being above Chelsea in the table at this point but that is the case. Chelsea will go above their opponents if they can find a win in the lunchtime clash however.

3pm Matches

Both Manchester clubs play at 3pm which is quite rare these days. City play host to Burnley looking to build on their emphatic win over Stoke last weekend while United head to Huddersfield looking to make up for boring the pants off everyone against Liverpool. Newcastle play host to Crystal Palace in possibly the most interesting match of the afternoon while Stoke take on Bournemouth at the Bet365 Stadium and Swansea welcome managerless Leicester to the Liberty.

Late Game

The BT Sport crew head to St Mary’s Stadium for the late game which sees two sides who struggle to score facing each other when Southampton host West Brom. Both sides picked up draws last weekend and will be looking for more than that in what I would imagine is a clash they both expect they can win.

Betting

There are three bets I like over the course of the day on Saturday. They begin in the early game where I’m expecting to see goals at Stamford Bridge. Watford look to be in the perfect position going into this match in that they can invite Chelsea onto them and then counter attack through their devastating pace up front. Chelsea love being on the front foot so both sides should be in their comfort zone. Roma showed in midweek that you can get at this Chelsea side while Watford’s frailty at the back has been there all season. I think we’ll get three goals in this one if not more.

Huddersfield made a brilliant start to the campaign but things have gone quiet since then. They won their first two matches but are winless in six now and have only scored once in that time. I’m not expecting much to change when they host Manchester United. I expect United to break down Huddersfield in much the same way Spurs did a couple of weeks ago. Much has been made of United’s performance at Anfield but prior to that they were taking sides to the cleaners regularly. Huddersfield can join the likes of Swansea, Everton, West Ham and Palace as being ruthlessly dismissed.

In the late game West Brom not only have issues playing on the road but they head to Southampton potentially without either of their two senior keepers. The issue was so bad on Monday night that even though Boaz Myhill was clearly injured they didn’t trust the youngster so if Myhill and Ben Foster are ruled out here that doesn’t bode well. Southampton are no great shakes but they finally found the net a couple of times last week and against a road-shy WBA, who could only manage one shot on target at Leicester, they have an ideal chance to pick up three points and finally send the Saints fans home happy.
