2017-18 Premier League – Saturday 9th September Matches Betting Preview

The Premier League returns from the international break on Saturday with seven matches across the usual three kick off times and there are some tasty contests among them it has to be said.

All of the big clubs are in action on Saturday ahead of their European campaigns beginning, or in some cases resuming, in midweek so we are set for a high quality day of football in the big league.

Early Kick Off

The day potentially begins with the pick of the matches although there are one or two later in the day which might dispute that. Manchester City host Liverpool in the battle of two sides in the top four from last season. Both sides will want to get there this year too so this could be an early pivotal game in the campaign.

3pm Matches

We have five matches at the usual 3pm kick off time and two of them are a surprise to be played in this group. Those two are the matches between Everton and Tottenham at Goodison Park as well as the Leicester vs Chelsea clash at the King Power Stadium which is a match which sees the last two champions taking each other on.

Brighton & Hove Albion are still looking for their first goal of the campaign but they might find it tough to find it against a dogged West Bromwich Albion outfit. The other two matches sees Southampton hosting Watford and Arsenal welcoming Bournemouth to the Emirates Stadium.

Late Game

The action finishes at the Bet365 Stadium when Stoke look to build on their win against Arsenal earlier in the season when they host the leaders Manchester United. United are yet to concede a goal this season so they will be very tough to beat.

Betting

I think apart from the early game this entire weekend is tough to call but there are three bets I like in total, two of them coming in the opening match of the day.

I’m not one for taking the obvious bet all the time but goals in the Manchester City vs Liverpool match looked likely before Vincent Kompany was ruled out so they look even more likely now that he has been confirmed as missing the game. Neither of these sides can defend and both have plenty of skill and pace in the attacking areas that I don’t see how this isn’t high scoring barring a freak incident like a sending off or a string of misses.

Given that Kompany is out I can’t be having City at odds on here. To be fair it wasn’t the greatest price with Kompany around but it is a shocking one without him and I think the shade under evens on Liverpool or the draw on the double chance looks big to me. Liverpool had an insane record against the big clubs last season and their pace on the counter attack here is going to give City nightmares. I think Liverpool will leave the Etihad with something here.

West Brom have started the season well and but for failing to hold onto a lead against Stoke they would have a 100% record. Since slipping up in that match Jonny Evans has returned and Pulis has brought in Grzegorz Krychowiak which is an eye catching signing. It is well known that Brighton were desperate to bring a striker in during the transfer window. They failed which is not going to help their goal output and West Brom can take advantage of that.
