2017-18 Premier League – Sunday 10th December Matches Betting Preview

Some Super Sunday’s are not worthy of the name but the offering in the Premier League on Saturday most certainly is as we have three juicy clashes to get stuck into over the course of the afternoon.

All three matches look very watchable too so we are set for an entertaining afternoon and an important one as four of the top five going into the weekend are all in action. We’ll go through the matches in kick off order.

Southampton vs Arsenal

The first game of the day gives Arsenal the chance to lay a marker down when they head to Southampton looking for the three points. Southampton will want the points to which would move them into the top half for a few hours at least so we’re nicely set here.

I’m with Arsenal in this game. Southampton have only won two of their last 10 matches and they came against poor West Brom and Everton sides whereas Arsenal have been on decent form. I’m prepared to excuse them last week’s win. They were the better side for much of that game but even then I don’t think losing to Manchester United in that form should be condemned.

Arsenal won 2-0 and 5-0 at St Mary’s last season and while this one may not be as emphatic as the latter result I fully expect Arsenal’s attacking class to show here.

Liverpool vs Everton

The first of the two derbies on Sunday comes from Merseyside as Liverpool host Everton in a match the home side are expected to win and need to win but may not be as easy as that with the Toffees under new management.

If this match was played three weeks ago I would have had no hesitation in backing Liverpool but I’ve got a feeling this one could have something of a spanner in the works. Allardyce rested all of his players in midweek so the Toffees should be the fresher side here. Liverpool should still win but I’m cautious enough not to get involved.

Manchester Utd vs Manchester City

Once the spoils are decided on Merseyside the two Manchester clubs will renew acquaintances at Old Trafford as the top two in the table battle it out for the first time this season.

Both sides go into this battle without some key players. Paul Pogba is out with suspension for Manchester United while Eric Bailly is injured. Manchester City will be without John Stones who is injured and there is talk that David Silva is carrying a knock although he is expected to play.

With injuries to both sides in defence I fancy this match might be higher scoring than expected. Many people are expected Jose to park the bus and ruin the game but the way his side are playing at the minute they don’t need to do that although admittedly the absence of Pogba could change that.

City are scoring for fun these days but they are not keeping clean sheets so with that in mind I think there is a higher chance than usual that this one goes over 2.5 goals.
