2017-18 Premier League – Sunday 15th April Matches Betting Preview

There are two matches in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon but having had four kick off times on Saturday it is a largely quiet day in terms of issues that are effected across the two matches.

That said it could be a pivotal day for Manchester City even though they don’t play. If Manchester United don’t win in the second match of the afternoon then City will be the champions.

Newcastle vs Arsenal

The opening match of the afternoon comes from St James’ Park where Newcastle go in search of a fourth straight win when they host an Arsenal side for whom the attention must surely be on European football rather than this competition now.

Newcastle took an age to find their form but they have it now and I think one more win will see their work for the season rewarded not just with survival but a decent finish on their first campaign back in the top flight. Arsenal have been going well themselves of late but they have been awful on their travels this season.

Given that Arsenal were playing in Russia as late as 10pm UK time on Thursday and the fact that their best chance of not just success this season but Champions League football next season comes in the form of the Europa League I’m expecting Newcastle to be more up for this one. I fancy the home side to get a result here.

Man Utd vs West Brom

One of the more one-sided matches of the weekend on paper comes from Old Trafford in the second match of the afternoon when second placed Manchester United take on rock bottom West Bromwich Albion.

I would imagine United will want City to win the title on their own merit rather than handing it to their rivals themselves so the home side should be hugely motivated in this match. West Brom in theory should be up for this one too but in truth they have been out of their depth all season.

United should win this. There should be plenty of inquests if they don’t win this one but we’re long since past the point in the season where I want to be taking huge handicaps on sides in this division so I’ll sit this second one out.
