2017-18 Premier League – Sunday 6th May Matches Betting Preview

The second to last weekend in the Premier League concludes on what should be a tasty Super Sunday where we have two live matches to enjoy and one away from the cameras which might well be as special as the two in front of them.

In the opening match of the day Manchester City will pick up the Premier League title after their match against Huddersfield. We then have two of the top five meeting at Stamford Bridge while it is Arsene Wenger’s final home match in charge of Arsenal too.

Man City vs Huddersfield

The opening match of the afternoon will be party time for Manchester City and their fans when they play host to a Huddersfield side who are beginning to look dangerously close to falling into the relegation zone at the worst time in the campaign.

City will play with freedom here but then again they haven’t really changed even when they have been under pressure this season. I will be interested to see how Huddersfield play this one though. Every point is vital for them but they have an inferior goal difference to the two below them so a spanking could be damaging.

City are being asked to cover handicaps of upwards of 2.5 goals and I’m not sure it is the afternoon for pushing the boat out in that way. They are good enough to cover it but we don’t need to chance it.

Chelsea vs Liverpool

In terms of size of clubs the biggest match of the afternoon is the second live one which sees Chelsea hosting Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in what is a final chance for Chelsea to give themselves some hope of playing Champions League football again next term.

A win here moves them to within two points of Tottenham and three of Liverpool but should they fail to win then with matches running out their hopes of joining Europe’s elite again next season would surely be over. Liverpool may already have half an eye on the Champions League final but this is a stage big enough to take centre stage first.

I think this match has plenty of draw potential around it which is a concern for me from a betting point of view because I don’t like betting on draws. If Liverpool hadn’t had a big match in midweek and another to come I might have chanced them but instead I’ll sit this one out.

Arsenal vs Burnley

After 22 years in charge at the Gunners, Arsene Wenger will take charge of Arsenal in a home match for the final time on Sunday afternoon. Burnley are the team his side will face in that match in what is a battle of the two sides in sixth and seventh.

I’m expecting quite an open game here. Arsenal will definitely be out to put on a show for Wenger in his final home match while Burnley have been tearing up scripts against the big sides for a couple of seasons or more.

Neither side are playing for anything important in this match so the football should flow and with it the goals should too. With that in mind I’m happy to be on over 3 goals as Wenger bows out in front of the Arsenal fans.
