2017-18 Premier League – Tuesday 12th December Matches Betting Preview

Another round of midweek matches in the Premier League gets underway on Tuesday night when three fixtures take place up and down the country. While the main set of matches involve the title protagonists on Wednesday the three games should still offer something in terms of entertainment and betting opportunity.

We have a live game for those of us in the UK which is the one involving the champions while the other two matches has all the usual methods of providing updates.

Huddersfield vs Chelsea

Chelsea head to Huddersfield looking to make up for their shock defeat at West Ham at the weekend while the Terriers will be looking to build on a solid win over Brighton on Saturday. That makes this an interesting match.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte appears to have given up the title and he is probably right with that but with his side having drawn Barcelona in the Champions League he will need to keep his team in the top four if they are to remain in the elite competitive next season.

Huddersfield have often been a tough nut to crack at home. Only Tottenham and Manchester City have won there this season while Chelsea have already lost at West Ham and Crystal Palace. This feels like a banana skin match so I’m not really desperate to get involved in this one.

Burnley vs Stoke

High flying Burnley host a Stoke side who are flattering to deceive this season in a match which could see the Clarets move into the Champions League places for 24hrs should they win the game. Stoke sit just three points above the relegation zone so their need for the points is clear.

Only one side have won at Burnley since the first home game of the season and that was Arsenal and they needed an injury time winner to do it. Stoke have only won one game on the road this term and have shipped seven at Man City and five at Tottenham in recent times. They have also lost at Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Everton this season.

Burnley are a very strong side at home and they don’t concede many goals. They go into the match off the back of a solid win over Watford at the weekend and I think they are great value to win this one too.

Crystal Palace vs Watford

The other match on Tuesday night is a London derby of sorts and it is a big one for Crystal Palace. They fell back down to the foot of the table when Christian Benteke messed up on Saturday and now they face a Watford side who are three matches without a win.

While Palace are at the bottom of the table they have only lost one of their last seven matches which was a narrow defeat at Tottenham. In every home match since Roy Hodgson took over they have scored two goals and haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of them.

Watford’s road games are generally high scoring. Prior to Saturday’s narrow loss when they had 10 men, their previous four away games ended 2-2, 4-2, 3-2 and 0-3. Given that Palace need to win this and Watford love to counter attack I think we’re going to see a few goals in this one.
