The opening round of matches in the Premier League in 2018 continues on Tuesday night when four more fixtures take place on a potentially exciting night in the top flight. Across the course of the evening we have the leaders in action while a number of sides in trouble will also look to escape immediate danger.
We have one live game to enjoy and plenty of other ways of keeping up with the other three matches. As ever we will begin our preview with the TV match.

Swansea vs Tottenham
Affairs at both ends of the table will be under the microscope in the live game on Tuesday night when struggling Swansea, bottom of the pile going into the match, takes on a Tottenham side who really need to win to stay close to the top four.
Swansea go into the game buoyed by their win at Watford at the weekend and you would think they would be up for the occasion with this being Carlos Carvalhal’s first home match in charge but Spurs had the weekend off and will be fresher. I expect Spurs to win but with two matches in 48hrs I’m not sure I want to be chasing handicaps.
Southampton vs Crystal Palace
Two sides much closer to the relegation zone than they would like meet at St Mary’s when Southampton take on Crystal Palace in what is suddenly a real pressured match. Saints are two points above the drop while Palace are just one so both need to win.
Southampton should have something of an advantage here. They played on Saturday afternoon while Palace had to chase the leaders around the pitch on Sunday lunchtime and lost two key men to injury so I think the home side will win but the days where I’m confident at backing them are long gone sadly.
West Ham vs West Brom
Two more sides deep in trouble meet each other on Tuesday night when West Ham host West Brom at the London Stadium. Both sides will begin the evening in the relegation zone but a win for either may see them escape that. West Ham will definitely come out of the drop zone if they win while West Brom will too if they are victorious and Crystal Palace lose.
I’ve got to think that while West Ham are anything but consistent at the minute, they are good things here – or at least they should be good things. They have not played since Boxing Day where they put up a good showing but dropped two points late on. West Brom were chasing Arsenal around as late as Sunday teatime which has to be a disadvantage.
Pardew will no doubt have his side up for this one heading back to his former club but the short turnaround has to go against his team and with West Ham suddenly having goals in them I fancy they’ll get the three points here.
Man City vs Watford
The final match of the night sees the leaders Manchester City hosting a Watford side who are in freefall at the minute. It was to their credit that the Hornets had such a good start to the season that despite six defeats in eight they are in no immediate danger.
City dropped their first points in ages on Sunday and will be looking to get back to winning ways here but with Kevin de Bruyne likely to be out injured and Gabriel Jesus definitely sidelined they might find this tougher than they would like. Ordinarily with the way these two play I would be looking to get on the overs but given City only played 48hrs previously and are without some huge stars I’ll sit this one out.
