2017-18 Premier League – Wednesday 9th May Matches Betting Preview

The final week of the Premier League campaign continues on Wednesday evening with four matches which include a series of good sides but in the main have little riding on them. There is one which carries some significance though which is the TV match.

Wednesday’s fixtures are as follows:

Chelsea v Huddersfield Town (19.45)

Leicester City v Arsenal (19.45)

Manchester City v Brighton & Hove Albion (20.00)

Tottenham Hotspur v Newcastle United (20.00)

Preview

The one match that has something riding on it is the one featuring Chelsea and Huddersfield at Stamford Bridge and that is the match which is available to us in the UK. Huddersfield now know if they avoid defeat in London they will guarantee Premier League football for another season. Chelsea will move level on points with Liverpool with a win and set up a frantic final day.

Elsewhere Tottenham will confirm Champions League football next season via a top four finish if they better Chelsea’s result. They’ll move above Liverpool into third if they can beat Newcastle at Wembley Stadium. Arsene Wenger’s penultimate match in charge sees him take his side to the King Power Stadium to face a Leicester side who are limping towards the finish line this season. The other match sees the champions Man City hosting a Brighton side who secured their safety at the weekend.

Betting

There is only one match which interests me from a betting point of view given that I’ve missed the decent prices on Arsenal and that is the live game from the Bridge where Chelsea take on Huddersfield Town.

I’m not expecting to see many goals here. Huddersfield defended stoutly to keep Manchester City at bay at the weekend and I expect them to have towed the bus down to London to park it in front of the Chelsea goal too. Chelsea are pretty hard to break down still and if Liverpool can’t score against them you’ve got to think Huddersfield are unlucky to barring something unforeseen. Chelsea only need to win the game rather than go mad. To Huddersfield a point is the golden ticket. I think under 3 goals is the bet here.
