The Christmas period in Sky Bet League Two continues on Boxing Day with another full fixture list as the second half of the campaign gets underway with some tasty matches and some sure to be competitive action across the length and breadth of the country. We have a tight battle for the play-off spots and things at the bottom are very crowded so this is a big day for a lot of sides.
Boxing Day fixtures are as follows: (3pm unless stated)
Grimsby Town v Mansfield Town (1pm)
Cambridge United v Barnet
Carlisle United v Accrington Stanley
Cheltenham Town v Yeovil Town
Chesterfield v Crewe Alexandra
Crawley Town v Colchester United
Exeter City v Forest Green Rovers
Lincoln City v Stevenage
Morecambe v Notts County
Port Vale v Coventry City
Swindon Town v Luton Town
Wycombe Wanderers v Newport County
Big Matches
The big match of the day probably comes from the County Ground as Swindon host the leaders Luton with the visitors looking to avenge a 3-0 defeat at Kenilworth Road from earlier in the season. Second placed Notts County head to Morecambe looking to keep as close to Luton as they can while Exeter in third welcome Forest Green to St James’ Park. Two relegated sides meet at Vale Park when Port Vale play Coventry.
Best of the Rest
Two sides at the wrong end of the table meet at Chesterfield when the Spireites look to bounce back from their humiliating defeat on Saturday when they play host to Crewe. Two sides looking for a play-off spot meet at Adams Park as Wycombe host Newport while Accrington will look to end their slump when they go to Carlisle. Barnet head to Cambridge in a battle of out of form sides.

Betting
Boxing Day is notorious for surprise results but given that this set of matches come so soon after Saturday’s I’m expecting the stronger squads to come to the fore over the course of the day and I’m taking two as a result.
Forest Green are struggling for numbers at the minute and I’m not sure that is a good thing when heading to an Exeter side who have built a bit of depth in their squad and who are playing well on their own patch at the minute. Paul Tisdale has the numbers to freshen things up a little bit whereas Mark Cooper may have to call on his youngsters if he wants to do that. Class should tell in this one and if it does then Exeter will win with a little in hand here.
Yeovil are terrible away from home but they will be buoyed by their win over Exeter on Saturday. That was at home though and massively assisted by some defensive errors from the visitors. I don’t think they will have it all their own way at Cheltenham who are going along nicely at home this season. Cheltenham have benefitted from some loans from Bristol City as the Johnson family helps each other out and they have the numbers to rotate anyone that needs rotating. I fancy Cheltenham to pick up a seventh home win here.
