2017-18 Sky Bet League 2 – Saturday 12th August Matches Betting Preview

After a high scoring first round of matches in Sky Bet League 2 last weekend it is time for the second set of fixtures with all 24 sides in action once again on Saturday. Every team playing on Saturday have had a midweek match in the cup on top of last week’s league game so there could be some fatigue in the legs.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:

Lincoln City v Morecambe

Barnet v Luton

Cheltenham v Crawley

Colchester v Stevenage

Crewe v Newport

Grimsby v Coventry

Cambridge v Carlisle

Mansfield v Forest Green

Notts County v Chesterfield

Port Vale v Wycombe

Swindon v Exeter

Yeovil v Accrington

Big Matches

The match of the day in terms of pre-season expectations is the one between Swindon and Exeter at the County Ground while Mansfield and Forest Green both have their eyes on promotion this season and they meet at the One Call. They might both have to go some to deny Luton if last week is anything to go by and the Hatters make the short trip to Barnet.

Best of the Rest

Notts County take on Chesterfield in a fairly local battle while Colchester and Stevenage do likewise. It is early to call any match a relegation six pointer but Cheltenham and Crawley are among the favourites to go so both could do with winning there. Coventry head to Grimsby while Yeovil look to make up for their mauling last week against Accrington.

Betting

I was pretty strong on three sides I think will go well this season when I did all my ante-post previews and having won nicely with two of them last week I see no reason to start swaying away from those sides again this week.

If you had asked Luton how they wanted to start they probably couldn’t have painted the one they got last week. They were absolutely brilliant and Barnet may well feel the force of the Hatters potency on Saturday. Barnet did well to come back from 2-0 down at Forest Green last week but if they haven’t tightened up at the back then James Collins, Isaac Vassell, Elliot Lee et al could have another field day.

It just so happens that the team that Luton beat last week are the side I’m taking on in the other bet which sees Accrington heading to Huish Park. Yeovil are not going to be in a good mind-set after last week while Accrington should be buzzing. Not only did they ease past Colchester last week but they then dumped Preston out of the cup in midweek.

I expected both sides to go well this season and nothing I saw last week suggested I am going to be too far out so there is no need to change a winning tactic.
