2017-18 Sky Bet League 2 – Saturday 14th October Matches Betting Preview

Another busy week in Sky Bet League 2 begins on Saturday afternoon. With a midweek round of matches to come and another set of games next weekend the next eight days could be very significant in the division especially with some top of the table clashes among them all.

We have 12 matches in total on Saturday with some great games on paper in there to get stuck into. The league table is likely to entail many twists and turns over the course of the afternoon.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:

Accrington Stanley v Coventry City

Chesterfield v Morecambe

Colchester United v Carlisle United

Forest Green Rovers v Newport County

Grimsby Town v Crawley Town

Lincoln City v Cambridge United

Luton Town v Stevenage

Mansfield Town v Swindon Town

Notts County v Barnet

Port Vale v Cheltenham Town

Wycombe Wanderers v Exeter City

Yeovil Town v Crewe Alexandra

Big Matches

The match of the day very much comes from Adams Park where fourth placed Wycombe welcome the league leaders Exeter City for what is an interesting clash in styles. Luton take on their nearest competitors geographically at Kenilworth Road when Stevenage are the visitors while second placed Notts County host Barnet. Accrington welcome Coventry and an army of their fans to the Wham Stadium.

Best of the Rest

Before the season began Mansfield’s clash with Swindon would have looked big while at the other end of the table the Port Vale vs Cheltenham contest could still be looked upon with importance come the end of the campaign. Chesterfield host Morecambe in what is looking like a big match at the bottom too while two sides who are underachieving face off in Essex when Colchester United host Carlisle United.

Betting

This is not the easiest card to get stuck into with a number of the top sides meeting each other or facing tricky encounters but there are two I like in a weekend where I’m playing slightly safe given the busy week to come.

I took Lincoln City to win last week and they obliged and I see no reason to desert them. Their home record has been made public knowledge over the course of the last year and that is because it stands up to any scrutiny. In truth you can get anything from Cambridge but in recent weeks we’ve not seen them at their best and they won’t have wanted to be missing Leon Legge when going to take on the direct style of the Imps. Lincoln can pick up another win here.

It was one of the surprises of the day last weekend when Notts County failed to beat Forest Green Rovers but I expect them to make up for it when they take on a Barnet side who are heavily on the skids. They did arrest a losing run last weekend when they held Coventry on the box but they were comfortably second best in the contest. I would imagine last week’s failure will have fuelled the fire within the Notts County camp and they can get back to winning ways in this one.
