We enter the final month of the Sky Bet League 2 season on Saturday afternoon and as we do so the picture at the top of the table and the bottom of it will become clearer when 11 matches take place in the division.
Things are getting a little closer to being settled at both ends of the table and Saturday has the feel of an important and potentially pivotal day to it so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:
Barnet v Forest Green Rovers
Cambridge United v Exeter City
Cheltenham Town v Morecambe
Colchester United v Accrington Stanley
Grimsby Town v Chesterfield
Mansfield Town v Crewe Alexandra
Newport County v Stevenage
Notts County v Coventry City
Port Vale v Crawley Town
Swindon Town v Carlisle United
Yeovil Town v Luton Town
Big Matches
The big match of the day comes from Essex where two form sides meet when Colchester United host the leaders Accrington Stanley. Yeovil play host to second placed Luton with revenge no doubt on their minds after the pounding they took at the beginning of the campaign. With third placed Wycombe not in action Exeter in fourth have the chance to make progress up the division. They head to Cambridge.
Best of the Rest
Things will play themselves out at the bottom of the table too when the two sides either side of the relegation zone do battle at Blundell Park when Grimsby host Chesterfield. You would think if the visitors win that the writing will be on the wall for the Mariners. Barnet have a massive game when they welcome Forest Green to The Hive. There is also an intriguing match at Meadow Lane where two sides in the playoff places meet as Notts County host Coventry.

Betting
I’ll go with two bets over the course of Saturday with the first of those coming from Wales where Newport County host Stevenage in a match with not a whole lot on it. I do like the home side though. Newport might be draw specialists at home but they have only actually been beaten at Rodney Parade three times all season. 10 of their matches have ended in stalemate but Stevenage have a poor road record so I think this is a chance for Newport to pick up a win. Stevenage are in the process of selling Ben Wilmot so he won’t be available for the away side who have failed to beat Grimsby, Port Vale and Forest Green away from home recently. I don’t think they will beat Newport either.
When Luton met Yeovil on the opening day of the season the Hatters won 8-2 and while scoring of that magnitude was a surprise, the fact that there were goals in the contest certainly wasn’t as these two have a habit of combining in high scoring matches. The two meetings prior to the 8-2 win saw Luton win 4-0 in Yeovil last season and 5-2 at Kenilworth Road in the Checkatrade Trophy and in Luton’s first season back in the league, the Glovers beat them 3-2 at Huish Park. Yeovil have just scored six while Luton are coming back to form in front of goal. The Town miss captain Scott Cuthbert here which could be a big loss so over 2.5 goals looks very tasty to me.
