2017-18 Sky Bet League 2 – Saturday 9th September Matches Betting Preview

The Sky Bet League 2 is back on Saturday with another full round of fixtures as the early table begins to take shape. This is only the sixth round of fixtures and the first one after late deadline day activity really settled down with signings introduced to their new sides fully.

It might be early in the season but already some sides are in big need of a win and some of them were well fancied before a ball was kicked this season.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (3pm unless stated)

Mansfield v Grimsby (1pm kick off)

Accrington v Carlisle

Barnet v Cambridge Utd

Colchester v Crawley

Coventry v Port Vale

Crewe v Chesterfield

Forest Green v Exeter

Luton v Swindon

Newport v Wycombe

Notts Co v Morecambe

Stevenage v Lincoln

Yeovil v Cheltenham

Big Matches

In terms of pre-season expectations the match of the day comes from Kenilworth Road as Luton host Swindon in a battle of two sides who will be aiming to be promoted this season. Exeter are the team in the box seat at the minute. The leaders head to Forest Green while second placed Stevenage host the other promoted side Lincoln. Accrington in third take on Carlisle while two sides in the top seven meet when Newport host Wycombe.

Best of the Rest

Two relegated sides who are at the wrong end of the table meet at the Ricoh when Coventry host Port Vale while Yeovil host Cheltenham in a battle of two sides in the west-country. The early kick off sees the pre-season favourites Mansfield hosting Grimsby while Crewe host Chesterfield in another appealing game.

Betting

I like two here. Firstly I’m happy to continue taking the goals in Forest Green matches. They are showing no signs of slowing down. If anything we might see more than usual here because Exeter have already had a four three in this part of the world this season and they have just splashed out the dough to bring Jayden Stockley back to the club. Forest Green look out of their depth defensively at this level so over 2.75 goals appeals to me.

If you had said to me at the full time whistle on the opening day that I would be interested in a bet on Yeovil a few weeks later I might have called you a few strange things but I do like them against a Cheltenham side who I expected to go down this season and who have shown me nothing to change my mind. We all know what happened to Yeovil at Luton that day but they have won both their home games. I fancy they’ll have too much for a weak Cheltenham outfit here and as the outsiders on a draw no bet they look well worth a play.
