Big Matches

The big match of the night looks to come from Meadow Lane as high-flying Notts County host a Swindon side who are not likely to be too far away when the final notes are written on the season. The leaders Exeter make the trip to London to face Barnet while second placed Accrington host Grimsby. Crewe in fourth take on Cambridge.

Best of the Rest

Mansfield and Wycombe are both hoping to be in and around it at the end of the season and they meet at the One Call Stadium. Bottom placed Port Vale make the trip to Bedfordshire to take on Luton while there is a heavyweight tussle at the Ricoh when Coventry host Carlisle. Newport welcome Cheltenham to Wales.

Betting

There are two bets for me over the course of these matches. The first comes from Gresty Road where I have been impressed by the beginning to the season that Crewe have made. I always thought they would be improvers this season. Not just because the off field things went against them but they made some good close season signings.

They host Cambridge who simply don’t score goals at the minute. They didn’t need to lose Luke Berry but they did and they are struggling as a result. Cambridge have four goals in six matches this season so one could be enough for Crewe. I think they’ll find more though coming in off the back of a 5-1 win at the weekend.

The other bet I like is Newport to beat Cheltenham. Newport have a 4-1 win over Chesterfield and a 0-0 draw with Wycombe at Rodney Parade this season and have generally begun the season pretty well. Cheltenham only have one win this season which was when Crawley were finding their feet and away from home they have one point from nine and only one goal in that time too. Cheltenham don’t have a big enough squad to make too many changes. I expect Newport to be too good for them here.
