2017 Africa Cup of Nations – Tuesday 24th January Matches Betting Preview

It is time for Group C of the Africa Cup of Nations to draw to a close on Tuesday which means it is judgement day for the defending champions and pre-tournament favourites Ivory Coast.

The Ivory Coast are one of four sides who can still qualify from this group so we are almost assured of a dramatic and exciting conclusion of this section of the tournament.

Morocco vs Ivory Coast

Morocco head into this match knowing that a draw will be enough to send them through and knock the defending champions Ivory Coast out. Ivory Coast have to win if they are to remain in the competition and if they do that Morocco will be eliminated so there is plenty at stake in this one.

The way this match is poised I think we’re going to get goals here. Once one goes in the whole game has to open up even if it doesn’t start open and that is a premise for goals. This group took a while to kick into life but the situation of the game makes the likelihood of goals much stronger than normal so I’m happy to take over two here.

Togo vs DR Congo

Courtesy of a win and a draw in their opening two matches DR Congo head into this one knowing that a draw will see them into the next round while a win ensures they win the group. Togo must win the game and hope there is a positive result in the other match for them to go through.

Togo have an issue with their keeper Kossi Agassa who made a couple of balls ups in the last game and has seen had his house turned over by vandals as a result. He may not be in the right mind to play here which would be a disadvantage for Togo but I don’t think it will matter too much anyway.

I’m already on DR Congo to qualify so I’m not going to tip them to win here even though I think they will. Togo looked shattered in their last match and that would fit the trend of what we’ve seen from the minnows in this tournament. The way the game is poised though with a goal exploding it into life I like over 2.25 goals here.

If Togo score first DR Congo have to score or they are out while if DR Congo open the scoring Togo need two to have any chance of progressing and will have to go for it more. That situation should lead to the goals flowing.
