2017 German Darts Championship – Last 16 Betting Preview

It is the final day of the 2017 German Darts Championship in Hildesheim on Sunday but before a champion is crowned there is a lot of darts to be thrown. The afternoon will see the last 16 of the tournament played out before the evening session sees the event conclude with the quarter finals, semi-finals and the final.

Time restrictions will mean we are unable to preview the evening session but we can certainly have a go at the afternoon one which we will do here.

Top Half Matches

The afternoon gets underway with Michael van Gerwen taking on Cristo Reyes in what will hopefully be a repeat of their World Championship epic before Ian White meets the surprise package Darren Johnson. Dave Chisnall then plays Jelle Klaasen in the tie of the round before Benito van de Pas and Jan Dekker collide in an all-Dutch battle.

Bottom Half Matches

Peter Wright and Stephen Bunting clash in an appealing looking match up before two form horses Alan Norris and Kim Huybrechts meet on stage for the second time this month having faced each other at the UK Open. Kevin Painter then looks to follow up his win over Simon Whitlock when he faces Gerwyn Price before Mensur Suljovic rounds off the afternoon with a match against Joe Cullen.

Betting

This is a tricky looking card with plenty of pretty short favourites and many of them are justified given how well the established names played on Sunday but one area where we can get on one of those favourites with a bit of value comes in the Gerwyn Price vs Kevin Painter match.

I like Painter but I think he’s up against it here and he’ll certainly have to improve on his 88.4 average if he is going to win this match. Price is in really good touch at the minute and he is getting more and more used to the stage which potentially makes him dangerous throughout 2017. His run in the UK Open has done wonders for that and he’s now playing his best stuff when it counts. I fancy he’ll have a bit to spare here.

Tips

WON – Back G.Price (-1.5 legs) to beat K.Painter for a 4/10 stake at 1.83 with Bet365
