2017 German Masters Snooker – Semi-Finals Betting Preview

The wonderful Tempodrom in Berlin is down to the one table set up as the venue prepares for the semi-finals of the German Masters. Four men remain in the tournament and each will have their eye on the title and the £60,000 first prize.

The final four aren’t necessarily the players that people would expect prior to the tournament but all four deserve to be here and each have their own story to enhance.

Martin Gould vs Ali Carter

Two former champions meet in the opening match of the day. Defending champion Martin Gould will look to continue his winning run in the event while Ali Carter will look to move within a win of regaining the title.

Gould came into the event in indifferent form but has played excellently from the start. He is banging in balls from distance and scoring heavily but he faces his first top 16 player in the tournament here.

Ali Carter can be unreliable but he has come through the draw nicely too and he has been scoring well while maintaining a very tight safety game to have taken care of three aggressive and attacking players thus far.

There isn’t a huge amount I fancy in this match although I do suspect it could be tight but having lost three bets by a frame on Friday I’m in no rush to take a chance on overs or anything like that. I do think Carter will get chances here though given Gould’s aggressive style and the 6/4 on Carter to knock in a ton looks attractive given he has done that in each of his matches so far.

Stuart Bingham vs Anthony Hamilton

The former world champion takes on the one man left in the field without a major ranking title to his name when Stuart Bingham meets Anthony Hamilton. Hamilton has without a doubt been the success story of the tournament so far and has little to lose.

It is fair to say that Bingham hasn’t been at his best in this tournament but he has come through to this stage. Dave Gilbert probably should have taken care of Bingham but the Essex man lived to tell the tale and might feel he is free rolling now.

Anthony Hamilton has come through three tough battles against top 16 players and faces another one here. Hamilton will be competing in his second semi-final of the season having made it that far in the Northern Ireland Open where he went down in the final frame to Barry Hawkins.

I’m not sure whether Hamilton can win this match but you have to respect both his run so far and indeed his record against Bingham. They are six each on the head to head but two of Bingham’s wins were in a deciding frame which actually makes me think Hamilton fancies his chances against him. With the way he is playing I think the Sheriff can run Bingham close again if not get over the line.
