2017 Gold Cup Football – Friday 7th July Matches Betting Preview

The Gold Cup begins on Friday night into the early hours of Saturday morning with two matches in Group A as the likes of Canada, Costa Rica and Honduras get their campaigns underway in a fascinating double header of action.

All four sides on show on Friday night will be desperate to get off to winning starts even though the first round of this tournament isn’t quite as brutal as some events around the world.

French Guiana vs Canada

The tournament gets off to an interesting beginning in New York as an emerging Canada side looking to show that they can compete at this level take on a French Guiana who sound like whipping boys but need to be taken seriously with the talent they have.

We don’t know how either of these sides will go on this stage which doesn’t help from a betting point of view but it will be interesting to see if either grabs the match and goes for it or if both will be timid and cancel each other out.

I’ve already taken my chances on Canada outright and that will do me in terms of interest in this match. I will keep a close eye on both sides but leave the match alone from a betting point of view.

Honduras vs Costa Rica

Two sides who are using this tournament with an eye on the future meet in the second match when Honduras clash with Costa Rica in New York and it will be interesting to see who settles fastest in this surrounding.

Costa Rica are the more established of the two nations and still include their class acts Bryan Ruiz and Joel Campbell and they could prove the difference against a Honduras side who have had spells where they have struggled to score in big matches.

I fancy Costa Rica will just have the edge in this one especially in the key areas and given that the Asian lines give us plenty of draw cover I will side with them for my bet on the opening night.
