2017 Gold Cup Football – Sunday 16th July Matches Betting Preview

The group stage of the Gold Cup finishes on Sunday night or the early hours of Monday morning for those of us in the UK and it does so when Group C draws to a close. We already know seven of the eight quarter finalists and by the time the sun comes up on Monday we will know the official quarter final line up.

Mexico and Jamaica have already qualified from this group but we don’t yet know in which order while the other thing to be determined is whether El Salvador will come out of this group too or if Martinique will take the final place.

Jamaica vs El Salvador

Jamaica are definitely through and if they better Mexico’s result then they will go through as the group winners. El Salvador have to avoid being beaten by more than one goal if they are to qualify. They could also win the group if they win and Mexico fail to.

With Jamaica already through and El Salvador needing to avoid a major beating to qualify I’m not really sure what sort of match to expect here. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jamaica take it easy and maybe rest one or two while El Salvador could look to keep the tempo low so we might end up with a damp squib of a game. With that in mind I don’t want to get involved.

Curacao vs Mexico

The final match of the group stage will be all about Mexico and whether they can win the group. If they can their will play either Honduras or Martinique. To do that they will need to better Jamaica’s result.

Curacao have given it a good go in this tournament but they have lost both of their matches 2-0 and I don’t see them scoring in this one either given how much of the ball Mexico are likely to see and indeed how strong ‘El Tri’ are at the back.

I fully expect Mexico to win this match and the shade under evens on them to do it without conceding looks a perfectly acceptable price to me.
