The Gold Cup quarter finals conclude on Thursday night into the early hours of Friday morning when the final two matches take place in Phoenix. By the end of the night/morning we will know the line up for the semi-finals.
Among the sides on show on Thursday we have the defending champions Mexico and the side they beat to win the tournament last time out in Jamaica. With all to play for we should be in for a good night of footy.

Jamaica vs Canada
The Reggae Boyz take on the side I have backed to win the tournament outright in Canada in what would appear to be the most even of the quarter finals. Heading into the tournament USA, Mexico and Costa Rica were expected to be in the semi-finals but the fourth spot was wide open. We now know it will be one of these two.
Both these sides have played their part in this tournament but judging them is not easy because they both just needed a draw to progress in their final group match which is exactly what they got. I’m on Canada outright so I am hoping that they qualify but in terms of a bet there isn’t one which takes my fancy.
Mexico vs Honduras
The defending champions continue their title defence against Honduras in the early hours of Friday morning with ‘El Tri’ widely expected to progress to the semi-finals. Honduras would be in best result ever territory if they get the better of Mexico in this one.
Mexico cruised into the quarter finals dropping just two points in a draw with Jamaica which probably suited both sides nicely. Honduras’ path was more decorated. They qualified without scoring a goal in the group stage. Had they not had a win awarded to them when French Guiana fielded an ineligible player they would have been out so they will be eager to make the most of their chance.
Mexico have only conceded one goal in the competition so far and are beginning to look stronger going forward so the obvious bet given that they are up against a side who are yet to score in the tournament is for the defending champions to win to nil.
