It was another low scoring day at the Irish Open on Saturday to set up a fascinating Sunday with a tightly bunched leaderboard full of big names on a golf course which looks ready to be attacked one last time.
For the third time this week we have joint leaders heading into the round and with 18 men within six shots of the lead we are in for quite some Sunday on the Irish links at Portstewart.

Saturday Recap
Low scoring was very much the theme on Saturday and after it we have Daniel Im and Jon Rahm taking the lead into the final round on 17 under par. Benjamin Hebert is one back on 16 under with Hideto Tanihara another shot further behind. Julien Quesne heads into Sunday on 14 under with a group four back on 13 under strong. It includes Justin Rose and Scott Hend among others.
It wasn’t a great day for us betting wise on Saturday as both our match bets were outscored but Bradley Dredge moved into the top 10 to offer up hope that he can deliver something in terms of an outright pay out on Sunday.
Sunday 2 balls
With the leaderboard so bunched there isn’t really any standout value in the tournament market now because anyone could come out of the pack with a big round and swoop the honours. I’m hoping Dredge will be that man but I’ll just leave him to run for me and head to the two balls for a punt.
All of the groupings on the golf course have been priced up once again and there is one in particular that I like which I am happy to get stuck into.
Julien Quesne vs Scott Hend
Match begins at 12.50 BST
Both Julien Quesne and Scott Hend had big rounds on Saturday with both firing scores of 64 to shoot themselves up the leaderboard and now they go into the final round three shots and four shots back from the lead respectively.
Both men can still win the tournament from here but I suspect this is a bigger day for Quesne than it is for Hend. Of course Hend will want to win the tournament and bank some big Rolex Series cash but he’s going to move into the top 60 of the Race to Dubai standings with any kind of solid round here and he is already in The Open.
Quesne is well outside the number needed to be involved in the Race to Dubai and faces losing his card if he doesn’t get himself sorted and he hasn’t yet qualified for The Open so he will be extremely focused on shooting a good score and maximising his earnings here. Hend has done little of note on links courses so his Saturday round could have been the exception rather than the norm so I’ll take Quesne at the prices safe in the knowledge he’ll be all out for a top round.
