2017 NatWest T20 Blast – Saturday 12th August Matches Betting Preview

The group stage of the NatWest T20 Blast continues on Saturday with a couple of matches. We get to see one in each group of the competition and both games are pretty important it has to be said.

One of the matches is on TV which is the South Group clash while the other one can be followed in the usual ways and means. Although it is the later match we will begin our preview with the TV game.

Somerset vs Kent

Somerset go into this match in the final qualifying spot for the quarter finals but a win here will give them a little bit of breathing space heading into the final week of matches. Kent are all but out after their defeat on Friday night.

Once again the scheduler is going to have a big say in this match. Kent finished their match with Hampshire around 10pm on Friday night and by the time they had done media and showered and changed I doubt they would have been on the road much before midnight and then they had a 4hr+ journey to Taunton so we’re looking around 4am for them to get there and then 12hrs later they have to play again.

It goes without saying that is not ideal for the visitors and when you factor that they are as good as out they could struggle for motivation. Somerset look an obvious bet especially as they may well have won the reverse fixture had the rain not come in.

I am going with a Kent batsman for a top bat bet but only because Sam Billings is a stupid price at 7/1. Billings’ last two scores in this competition have been 74 and 40 and he is has any of that with him here he could well go on and top score.

Leicestershire vs Yorkshire

Two sides who won well on Friday night meet in a big North Group clash on Saturday afternoon when Leicestershire host Yorkshire. Leicestershire kept their hopes alive with that win on Friday and another would really put them in the mix. Yorkshire can enhance their quarter final prospects with a win of their own.

In truth I don’t see this as a match to bet on. I would probably fancy Yorkshire under normal circumstances but it remains to be seen how they handle the comedown from playing in front of a packed house in the Roses clash to a few thousand in a wide open Leicester. Both sides played last night which is not ideal for predicting how this will go so I’ll stick with my two bets on the TV match.
