2017 NFL – Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Preview

The final match of a busy Sunday in the NFL is as ever the Sunday Night Football and this week it showcases one of the bigger rivalries in the sport as the Pittsburgh Steelers host their bitter enemies Baltimore Ravens at Heinz Field.

The Steelers went into the week leading the way in the AFC but with a win here the Ravens can get right back into the mix in the AFC North so there is a lot more than just bragging rights at stake in this contest.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers have been so impressive this season as their 10-2 record would suggest. They have won matches going away and then just like last week they have scrapped out victories when they haven’t been at their best and that is never a bad thing. It is hard to maintain winning runs but they are doing it nicely so far.

It will be interesting to see how the Steelers go without Ryan Shazier after he took a savage hit in the win over Cincinnati last week. That battle showed that Pittsburgh can still win tough which bodes well because these matches are always toughly fought encounters. Antonio Brown is fit which is a help for them here.

Baltimore Ravens

Almost without any notice the Baltimore Ravens have gone on a three match winning run and while you would have to say they have only beaten three largely bashed up sides but at this stage of the season they will be happy just to win. Another win here would not only enhance their wildcard chances but could keep them in the hunt for the division.

After struggling for much of the season the Ravens offense has suddenly caught fire in recent weeks. They put up 44pts on Detroit last week and stuck 20+ past Houston and Green Bay. They will need their offensive players to be in top form here but if they are we have seen enough from their defence to suggest they can be competitive.

Betting

Given what is on the line here I’m expecting to see a low scoring match. Both sides are defensively proficient and strong and these matches are always so hard fought let alone at this stage of the season when so much is at stake.

We have seen Balitmore’s offense struggle for much of the season but they generally know how to contain sides. Pittsburgh’s defence is genuine so I’m expecting a tough battle but if it isn’t tight then I would imagine the Steelers win cosily which may also see the scoring stay under the 43pt line.
