2017 NFL – Dallas Cowboys at Oakland Raiders Betting Preview

The race for the wildcard spots in the NFL postseason is really hotting up at the minute and two sides who want to remain in the picture meet in the Sunday Night Football when the Oakland Raiders host the Dallas Cowboys.

You can never truly tell if matches like this are winner takes all or must not lose and things but you wouldn’t want to be in the position of the side who does lose so there should be a real competitive edge to this one.

Oakland Raiders

This will have been a frustrating season for the Oakland Raiders so far. They couldn’t get anything going for ages but then when they finally managed to put a spell of three wins out of four together to get themselves into position to pounce they then lost to the Kansas City Chiefs and they are almost back to square one again.

That means they go into the match with a 6-7 record for the campaign so if they are to have any chance of extending their season and making the play-offs they will need to win out so there is going to be pressure on them here. They handled that pressure brilliantly last season but you sense things aren’t as comfortable this time around.

Dallas Cowboys

You could probably say the same things about the Dallas Cowboys. After such a dominating regular season last year they were never going to emulate that but they will be disappointed with their lack of consistency so far. Injuries have not helped them but they would have wanted to be better than 7-6 for the year.

That said if they can win their final three matches you would think that would be enough to seal a spot in the play-offs and while they would be on the road for the majority of it you wouldn’t count them out completely. They face sides with winning records in their last two matches though so they will have to get there the tough way.

Betting

The Dallas Cowboys has Sean Lee back for this match and that is absolutely vital. Their points against is considerable better with him in the side than when he isn’t there and that pretty much says everything about the quality of his game.

After really struggling in the early stages of Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension the Cowboys offense has found its feet in his absence and I like the visitors in this one. Oakland just can’t find any consistency and if they are unable to run the ball with Lee around they may struggle to contain the Cowboys for long enough to win.
