2017 NFL – Green Bay Packers at Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Preview

The final match of Sunday as far as the NFL is concerned is the regular Sunday Night Football which this week comes from Heinz Field as two of the biggest franchises in the sport collide when the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Green Bay Packers.

Pittsburgh are flying this season and will be looking for a win which will continue to increase their potential seeding in the postseason. The Packers are playing out time until Aaron Rodgers is back but a win here could revive their campaign.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers head into the contest with the tied best record in the AFC and if they can pick up another win and go 9-2 for the season they will be just two wins away from securing their division and being able to focus on postseason seeding. They are currently on a run of five wins in a row so everything is good in Steeler land currently.

We would be lying if we said that everything had always been convincing for Pittsburgh but wins are wins and that is all that matters. Their offense is putting up good numbers and very few sides have got the better of their defence in recent times so the Steelers look like they are going to be very tough to stop right now.

Green Bay Packers

Despite the huge loss of Aaron Rodgers the Packers go into the weekend at 5-5 for the season. Having seen Minnesota Vikings win on Thanksgiving they will appreciate the division might be beyond them but the wildcard race is wide open in the NFC and four wins from their final six matches could be enough to seal a postseason berth.

All eyes will be on Brett Hundley to see if he can unlock the puzzle that is this Pittsburgh defence. He doesn’t lack for weapons in the passing game but with no recognised running back fit for this match their attack could look a little one dimensional. With that in mind it could be down to their defence to keep them in the game against all the odds.

Betting

I expect Pittsburgh to win this but a 14pt handicap is in the realms of the area where I don’t like to tread so the bet I prefer to take centres around the Green Bay Packers and their offense.

The Packers have failed to score more than 17pts in a match since Aaron Rodgers went down and they go into this match off the back of being nilled by the Baltimore Ravens last week. They now go up against the fourth best defence in the league which is the third best passing defence. That is a concern given that Green Bay are going to need to use the passing game a lot here. With all that in mind I find it hard to believe they notch more than 14.5pts.
