2017 NFL – Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs Betting Preview

The second match of what looks like an exciting Saturday in the NFL could well see the AFC West title decided when the Kansas City Chiefs host the Los Angeles Chargers in one of the matches of the season so far.

Both sides head into the week with 7-6 records with the Chiefs topping the division based on their record in it thus far. The losers won’t be done for the season but with sides queuing up for wildcard spots they open the door to each of them. The winners take a massive leap to the postseason.

Kansas City Chiefs

When we looked back on the first half of the season it looked like the Kansas City Chiefs were going to be one of the teams to stop throughout its entirely. They were 6-2 for the campaign and everything looked to be going along nicely but then the buffers arrived and they hit them hard. They lost four on the bounce prior to the win over Oakland last week.

Despite that awful trot the Chiefs have maintained their destiny being in their own hands and they will enhance that if they win here but their offense has slowed down markedly in recent weeks and their defence has been more exposed as a result. They do have last week’s win to build on which could be important.

Los Angeles Chargers

You have to say it took an age for the Los Angeles Chargers to get going this season and there were times when some judges thought they might play out for the number one draft pick but they rallied and regrouped and having won their last four matches they head to Arrowhead Stadium as one of the form sides in the league.

The class and quality of Philip Rivers has been one reason for that but this is a well balanced side both on offense and on defence and both units have suddenly caught fire. They are following the old adage of finishing strongly and if they win here and go on and win the division with it they should not be taken lightly in the postseason.

Betting

I like the Los Angeles Chargers here. They are on an excellent run at the minute with all units of their team working very well. They do have to go into the lion’s den a little bit here but despite last week’s win the dynamic players on the Kansas City Chiefs side have stopped delivering the goods.

The form of Kareem Hunt and Tyreeq Hill has taken a significant downturn and going up against a Chargers defence which is shipping less than 15pts a game over their last nine outings I’m not convinced they are going to turn things around here. It is the Chargers for me in this one.
