2017 NFL – New York Giants at Washington Redskins Betting Preview

The Thanksgiving Day triple header in the NFL concludes with another divisional battle, this time in the NFC East. It sees two struggling sides opposing each other when the Washington Redskins takes on the New York Giants in a match where really only pride is at stake.

The Redskins have gone marginally the better of the two sides at 4-6 for the season while the Giants are 2-8 but with Philadelphia already 9-1 for the season neither of them are going to win the division and a wildcard is unlikely.

Washington Redskins

Washington go into the match off the back of two defeats in a row. Losing the matches will have annoyed them but losing them despite putting up more than 30pts in each will be a killer for them. Their defence has shipped 30 or more points in four of their last five matches so it is clear where they are having problems right now.

Injuries have clearly played a massive part in the struggles of the Redskins. Josh Norman has had a spell on the sidelines and they will be without Jordan Reed, Terrelle Pryor and Chris Thompson from their offense for this match. A banged up side who went to overtime on Sunday is not a good combination on a short week.

New York Giants

It has been a season to forget for the Giants as well. They have not escaped the injury curse that has dogged the NFL this season either. Odell Beckham Jr and Brandon Marshall have been missing for most of the campaign and their offense has clearly struggled in their absence. The one bright spot has been their defence which has remained tough apart from a couple of freaky matches.

The Giants should carry some confidence into the contest with them having edged out the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. That win gives them something to build on should they want to. Most people were surprised they have not packed up for the season and secured themselves a higher draft pick. With jobs on the line that might not be an option.

Betting

This should be a competitive way to end the day and I like the New York Giants to stay within seven points of their rivals here. Washington’s defence is getting blown away at the minute and while this may not be the best Giants offense you will ever see they should find enough big plays at the right times to score points.

The Giants defence got back to doing what it does best last week and against an injury ravaged side who have just been to overtime I think we will see a jaded home side. Washington should still win the match but seven points is a lot for the Gmen to ride out.
