2017 NFL – Oakland Raiders at Miami Dolphins Betting Preview

The final NFL match on Sunday is an all-AFC affair which on the face of it looks a strange match for the Sunday Night Football as the Miami Dolphins host the Oakland Raiders. Last season these two were both play-off teams but this year has not gone to plan.

That might be a little harsh on the Dolphins who have had some rotten injuries to deal with and still have a winning record but Oakland have not got going at all and realistically their season may already be over in terms of reaching the postseason.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins had won three on the bounce boarding the plane to Baltimore last week but they were turned over in crazy style in that match and will be looking for a rebound. They have been involved in one of the stranger trades of the campaign since then when they let Jay Ajayi go to Philadelphia so their run game will be much changed.

Until two weeks ago the strength of the Miami side had been their defence but it has been taken for 28pts by the Jets and 40pts by the Ravens since then which has got alarm bells ringing. The positive for them in this match is Jay Cutler is back. He is nothing immensely special but teams always want their leaders available and he’s theirs.

Oakland Raiders

It has been a strange season for Oakland. Latavius Murray aside the bulk of the players who had them as genuine Super Bowl contenders last season are still in place but they have looked nothing like the team that performed last season. Their wide receivers drop more catches than England’s slip fielders and they have not got a run game going at all.

They will have another chance to establish the run in this match and will be pleased to welcome Marshawn Lynch back from his suspension to assist with that but running on this Dolphins defence is easier said than done. If their receivers can catch some passes then they might be able to surprise in a match they really have to win.

Betting

This one isn’t the easiest match to bet on because there are two Oakland’s at the minute. If the Oakland Raiders that beat the Kansas City Chiefs turn up they have every chance of winning this but if the Raiders who were beaten last week show up they won’t.

I think the best way to play the match is a small bet on the home side. Miami Dolphins have won plenty of close matches this season so if this is close they have that on their side and they have had the extra time to prepare for the match having played the Thursday night game last week. I wouldn’t say I’m overly confident but a side at home who have the better record feel a bit overpriced at 6/4.

Tips

Back Miami Dolphins to beat Oakland Raiders for a 3/10 stake at 2.50 with William Hill
