2017 NFL – Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys Betting Preview

We are hitting December so every remaining match in the NFL season takes on extra significance and Week 13 of the campaign begins on Thursday night with a win or bust divisional clash between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins.

Both sides go into the match with 5-6 records and with the Philadelphia Eagles flying towards the NFC East title it will be a wildcard the two are playing for but whoever loses here will near enough have their chances of that ended so this is huge.

Dallas Cowboys

This season has never hit the heights of last season for the Dallas Cowboys but in the last three weeks it has plummeted to depths that many thought had gone from their game. They have been well beaten on all three occasions and not just struggling to find the end zone but they have been struggling to get a drive going.

The main reason for that has been the absence of Ezekiel Elliott and the weaknesses of Dak Prescott have certainly been exposed without him. Injuries haven’t helped either with Tyron Smith and Sean Lee particularly key players who have been missing. Lee remains out here but Smith is back in situ which should be a positive.

Washington Redskins

The Redskins will not have much sympathy for a side struggling with injuries because their season has been dogged by them since the outset and even now they are a bashed up side with the likes of Jordan Reed, Chris Thompson and Terrell McClaim out of this match. A whole host of other players are rated questionable too.

That is piling the pressure on Kirk Cousins who is having to maximise every drive they get going. That means scoring more points than usual to get wins as evidenced by their high scoring defeats to the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings recently. The rise of Josh Doctson and continued improvement of Jamison Crowder are positives from the year though.

Betting

I’m not sure I want to be backing either of these two sides in their current states. Washington Redskins are ravaged by injuries but they do have a slight advantage in that usually this would be a short week but the fact they played on Thanksgiving means that is not the case. Dallas look a shambles right now and I certainly can’t be taking them.

With that in mind I’ll head to the player markets for a bet on the game with the player in question being Jamison Crowder. Crowder has become the go to man for Kirk Cousins and has caught 13 passes more than anyone who isn’t a running back this season. He has a receiving yards line of 65.5 which I expect him to cover.

When these two met in Washington he caught for 123 yards and in his three starts since then he has picked up yardages of 76, 72 and 141. Dallas aren’t the best in the secondary as we saw last week so I’ve got to think Cousins will find his favourite target enough times for him to reach 66 yards.

Tips

WON – Back J.Crowder – Over 65.5 receiving yards for a 4/10 stake at 1.80 with Bwin
