2017 NFL – Week 4 Sunday Early Games Betting Preview

The bulk of the NFL matches take place as ever on Sunday over the two usual kick off times and this week we have a number of divisional battles combined with some good other matches as we hit the quarter mark for the season.

As ever two of the matches are live on Sky in the UK and there are plenty of ways of keeping up to date with the other matches on show on Sunday so another decent evening is in store.

1pm kick offs (6pm UK time)

It is divisional day inside the AFC North with the heated rivalry between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers forming the live match for those of us in the UK. The other two sides in the division also meet when Cleveland Browns host the Cincinnati Bengals. Another divisional battle sees the Minnesota Vikings hosting the Detroit Lions in the NFC North.

Elsewhere among these kick off times Atlanta Falcons will look to go 4-0 for the season when they welcome Buffalo Bills to town. The New England Patriots host the Carolina Panthers and the New York Jets welcome Jacksonville to the MetLife Stadium. The Los Angeles Rams look to pick up another win when they head to Texas to take on the Dallas Cowboys while the AFC South duo Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans meet in Houston.

4pm kick offs (9pm UK time)

The live game in this set of matches is a division clash too when the Denver Broncos host the Oakland Raiders while Arizona Cardinals face the San Francisco 49ers in an NFC West contest. The underrated Tampa Bay Buccaneers welcome New York Giants to Florida and the Los Angeles Chargers face up to the Philadelphia Eagles in California.

Betting

I’m going with three bets among these early matches. The first comes in the live game on Sky where the Baltimore Ravens host the Pittsburgh Steelers in a match where there is never any love lost. I’m not expecting an avalanche of points here I must admit. We saw last week just how hard the Baltimore Ravens are finding it on offense but by and large there is little wrong with their defence. Pittsburgh aren’t pulling up trees on offense either and when you add in how fiercely competitive these matches are I don’t see 42.5pts being threatened.

The Detroit Lions were six inches away from being 3-0 for the season but a video review denied them a late win against the Atlanta Falcons last week but I believe they can make up for that when they head to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Matt Stafford and his offense are going well enough and his defence are making plays at the right time. To be fair to the Vikings they are going well on offense too even with Case Keenum in at quarterback. I suspect this one will be more open with the deep threats on both sides. I like over 42.5 here.

Moving into the later matches and I don’t expect to see too many points when the Arizona Cardinals take on the San Francisco 49ers. That might sound weird given that the 49ers were involved in a shootout last week but I would imagine with the long week they will have their defence better prepared here. Arizona haven’t looked fantastic without David Johnson and if the 49ers can keep tabs on Larry Fitzgerald then the Cardinals may struggle to move the ball. I don’t see San Francisco moving it with ease either so 44.5pts looks a few too high.
