We have made it down to the final day of the Paul Lawrie Matchplay and there are four players remaining with a chance of winning the title on Sunday. Going for glory are a couple of Spaniards, a Swede and a local player in what should be a cracking day of golf which contains the semi-finals, third place play-off and the final.
Saturday Recap
The shocks and surprises continued over the busy day on Saturday. Those who made it through played two rounds on Saturday and face two more on Sunday so fatigue is likely to be an issue over the course of the day.
It was one of the most unlucky days I’ve known betting wise on Saturday as we lost both our bets despite Ashun Wu being three up at the turn and Tom Lewis being ahead for long periods. We’ll aim to get that back on Sunday but will certainly need the luck to turn in our favour.

Johan Carlsson vs Marcel Siem
Match tees off at 06.30 BST
The one remaining German player tees off in the opening semi-final against a pretty dangerous Johan Carlsson in a match which could have plenty of fireworks throughout the course of the round.
These two are both capable of brilliance but they are only ever a brain fade away from running up a big score so it will be interesting to see who can be the most consistent for the longest. Personally I like Carlsson here. I think overall he has had the trickier run to this stage and I just fancy he will deliver the goods around the green better than Siem will. There may not be a lot in this one but the Swede looks overpriced to me.
Adrian Oteagui vs Alejandro Canizares
Match tees off at 06.45 BST
The two Spaniards collide in the second semi-final so we know that one Spanish combatant will be in the final although we are yet to find out which one. Both men have come through tricky routes to make this semi and look to be in good nick.
This should be a great game to watch. Both men are solid from tee to green and both men are good putters although I give the slightest edge to Alejandro Canizares in that regard and that could be enough to see him through. I don’t think there will be much in this one and that alone matches Canizares the value at 11/8.
