2017 PDC World Darts Championship – Day 11 Afternoon Session Betting Preview

There are two more sessions in the PDC World Darts Championship on Wednesday with the afternoon one containing three more second round matches at the Alexandra Palace in London.

The tournament really came alive on Tuesday and the quality is only going to ramp up a notch from here on in with some star players on show in this session.

Kim Huybrechts vs Max Hopp

Kim Huybrechts:               Round 1 beat James Wilson 3-0 – Ave: 98.66 180s: 5

Max Hopp:                          Round 1 beat Vincent van der Voort 3-1 – Ave: 94.59 180s: 6

Head to Head: 2-1

We begin the day with an all-European battle and I’m sure both men will have taken plenty of belief from Cristo Reyes’ performance on Tuesday evening. Both men played well in the first round and if they can repeat that here we should be in for a cracking match.

Kim Huybrechts will be the man under pressure here and that isn’t always when we see the best of him but he coped with the favourites tag very well in the first round and that should bode well. Max Hopp was excellent in the first round and you get the feeling he might be ready to kick on.

I’m really not sure which way I think this one will go but I do think it will go a fair distance so the bet in the game looks to be Hopp’s 180 count. The line is 5.5 which he covered in the first round and could have had a few more than that. I’m expecting to see at least six sets here so he’ll need an average of one per set which is well within his range.

James Wade vs Steve Beaton

James Wade:                     Round 1 beat Ronny Huybrechts 3-0 – Ave: 93.83 180s: 2

Steve Beaton:                   Round 1 beat Devon Petersen 3-1 – Ave: 88.55 180s: 1

Head to Head: 17-3

Two men who had easy wins in the first round meet for the right to face Michael Smith in the last 16. These two will know each other pretty well and although Wade has had the better of their previous meetings when Beaton plays well he still troubles him.

I would expect Wade to win this match and he should win it quite comfortably but we saw back at the World Matchplay that on his day Beaton still has a game in him that can trouble the best which is enough to sway me from a bet on this one.

Jelle Klaasen vs Brendan Dolan

Jelle Klaasen:                     Round 1 beat Jeffrey de Graaf 3-1 – Ave: 96.02 180s: 6

Brendan Dolan:                 Round 1 beat Christian Kist 3-1 – Ave: 95.12 180s: 2

Head to Head: 3-5

Jelle Klaasen and Brendan Dolan meet for the reward of facing Dave Chisnall in the last 16 and this is a real clash in styles. Jelle Klaasen is rat-a-tat while Dolan is a plodder. Dolan won their first five meetings but Klaasen has won their last three and you would suggest he is getting to grips with Dolan’s style now.

With that in mind I fully expect Klaasen to have too much in this match but the lines and odds all look about right and given that I’m on the Dutchman outright I’ve no need to dip in again so I’ll leave this one alone.
