2017 Ram Slam T20 Challenge – Friday 17th November Betting Preview

There are three matches in the Ram Slam T20 Challenge on Friday as for the first time in the tournament all six franchises will be in action at the same time. That makes it a potentially key evening in the competition even this early in the piece.

Those of us in the UK will have a TV match to enjoy with the other two matches having to be kept up to date via the internet and the various scorecard options that are around. We will begin our preview with the live game.

Highveld Lions vs Cape Cobras

Two sides who lost their opening match meet in the live game on Friday when the Highveld Lions take on the Cape Cobras in Johannesburg. Both teams were heavily impacted by rain on Sunday so they will pleased to know there is no weather issues here.

This should be a good match to watch between two fairly evenly matched sides. The advantage that the Cape Cobras have in personnel will probably be made up for by the advantage that Highveld Lions have playing at home at altitude and as such betting on the match outcome is difficult especially with the ground so hard to defend.

I do like the boundaries here though. Some of South Africa’s best batsmen are on show here. Reeza Hendricks is excellent for the Lions as are Mangaliso Mosehle and Rassie van der Dussen. The Cape Cobras boast Richard Levi, Hashim Amla, Temba Bavuma and JP Duminy in their top four with the likes of Vernon Philander and Rory Kleinveldt behind them. Given the short boundaries and the altitude I expect them to get peppered here.

Dolphins vs Knights

Both the Dolphins and the Knights won their opening match of the campaign and on Friday they get the chance to pull away from the rest when they meet each other in Durban. Dolphins won on the DLS method although they had put up a score which would have taken some chasing. The Knights produced a wonderful run chase to see off the Warriors in their first match.

Since then the Knights have been wiped out by the Titans but there is no shame in that. The Titans look head and shoulders above the rest of the sides in this competition. This will be a more even challenge for them here.

In fairness to the Knights they were right in the game until de Villiers and Behardien smashed them to all parts in the last six overs but they are not going to run into batting of that ilk here. Dolphins look quite light with the bat if their top order fails them which is a concern. The Knights are playing well and if they have suffered no scarring from the beating they took on Wednesday they can bounce back with a win here.

Warriors vs Titans

The other match sees the very strong and classy looking Titans going up against the Warriors. The Titans are two from two and already looking hard to stop while the Warriors lost their only match in the competition.

The home side have a couple of batsmen who can destroy any attack but they would need to score very big if they are to win this you would think. Even if they score big I’m not convinced they have enough with the ball to restrict the Titans. I expect the Titans to win but they will drop the odd match here and there so I’m not going to risk them at a short price.
