2017 Ram Slam T20 Challenge – Friday 8th December Matches Betting Preview

The penultimate round of group matches in the Ram Slam T20 Challenge takes place on Friday night and with chances running out to secure semi-final spots for those who are yet to book their places in the knockout stages, all three matches carry heavy significance.

As ever on a Friday we have a live match which comes from Bloemfontein and then there are the usual ways to keep up to date with the other matches. As always we’ll kick off the preview with the TV match.

Knights vs Dolphins

Potentially the biggest match of the afternoon comes from Bloemfontein as the Dolphins, who currently occupy the final place in the top four, take on the side one below the line in the Knights in what looks like being a decisive match in the battle for playoff spots.

Had it not been for the weather, the Dolphins might well have secured a place in the playoffs already. They have had five of their eight matches washed out and have not been able to get any fluency going. The Knights have lost four of their eight games and really need to win here to keep their hopes alive.

Unfortunately the rain seems to be following the Dolphins around South Africa and the forecast for this match is not great so I’ll avoid this one from a betting point of view to save getting on the wrong end of any DLS calculations.

Cape Cobras vs Titans

The pick of the matches on Friday comes from the picturesque Newlands in Cape Town as the second placed Cape Cobras host the Titans in a battle of the top two. The Titans will be in the semi-finals next week whereas the Cobras need one more win to secure their spot there.

Both sides go into this match in excellent form. The Cobras have now won their last four completed matches in the tournament while only rain has denied the Titans a 100% record so this could very well be a dress rehearsal of the final next weekend.

I think at the prices the Cobras could be worth a go here. I would imagine the Titans will rotate their squad between now and the semi-final whereas the Cobras will be right at it here given they haven’t yet secured their semi spot. At a shade under 2/1 I’ll chance the Cobras to take a big win.

Highveld Lions vs Warriors

The other match on the afternoon is another big one in the race for spots in the playoffs. Highveld Lions go into it in third place in the table while the Warriors are currently bottom but they will go level on points with their opponents should they win.

The Warriors gave themselves a lifeline last time out with a win over the Dolphins and if they can back that up here they could yet make the top four but that will be tough against a Lions side who have a very solid bowling attack. I think the prices of this one are about right though so I’ll give this one a miss.
