2017 Riga Masters Snooker – Quarter Finals Betting Preview

It is the final day of the Riga Masters on Sunday with eight men still standing with the chance of winning the first ranking event of the new season. It will be a busy day for whoever wins the competition as they will play three matches in quick succession but whoever lands the title will pocket £50,000.

Time restrictions will deny us the opportunities to preview the semi-final and the final but we can get stuck into the quarter finals which are actually going to be played over two start times in the morning session.

Early Starts

The two quarter finals first off on Sunday see Anthony McGill taking on Ken Doherty in a new against old battle with the other match being between Andrew Higginson who looks to be having a resurgence and Stephen Maguire who has probably been the player of the weekend thus far.

Later Starts

It is a bit of a Welsh domination in the later matches in this round. Ryan Day goes up against Joe Perry in the pick of the quarter finals on one of the tables while the best known Welshman is on the other table as Mark Williams goes up against Mark Joyce.

Betting

With these matches still the best of seven frames I’m not going to go too mad but there is one bet I like in this round which is Ryan Day to see off Joe Perry. Day was one of the success stories of the season half of last season and I’m surprised he is the outsider here.

To be fair to Perry it is good to see him back in the deeper end of tournaments after his struggles at the back end of the last campaign but Day looks really sharp. In Barry Hawkins, Robert Milkins and Kyren Wilson, Day has seen off some good players and to perform as well as he did from 2-0 down to Wilson bodes well.

Perry hasn’t faced quite the same level of opposition although he has accounted for Dave Gilbert in the first round but Day is scoring well and not panicking when behind and they are credentials which can see him through here.

Tips

WON – Back R.Day to beat J.Perry for a 4/10 stake at 2.00 with 888sport
