2017 Royal London One Day Cup – Friday 28th April Matches Betting Preview

The Royal London One Day Cup continues on Friday when four of the six sides yet to get their campaigns underway do so on a quieter day of cricket. In total there are just two matches of action on Friday with one of the matches being on TV and the other being away from the cameras. There is one match in each group.

Somerset vs Surrey

The TV match is the first game of the two to get underway and it sees two sides who have been very successful in this competition over the last couple of years colliding in a high profile match in the South Group.

These two sides have begun the County Championship season in different ways. Somerset have played twice in that competition and lost them both while Surrey are unbeaten in their three matches. That all means little in a 50 over competition but I prefer to be the side who have some positivity heading into the campaign that the alternative.

As it goes I like Surrey in this match anyway. As I said on Thursday in 11am starts at this time of the year I want to be with the best bowling attack in the match and for me that is Surrey’s, especially in the season department. While spin is often in play in Taunton it isn’t like Surrey don’t have that covered either. The two Durham boys have strengthened the batting resources Surrey have so I’m with the visitors here.

Lancashire vs Leicestershire

The second match of the day is a day/night one from Old Trafford as Lancashire and Leicestershire get their campaigns underway in the North Group. Lancashire have started the season strongly whereas Leicestershire have found the going tough.

Even though they have a few injuries I would favour Lancashire to win this match but at this time of year the ball is likely to do a bit under the lights so I’m not keen on backing short prices when there is a chance they will be handicapped by atmospheric conditions so with a lack of markets around and form to go on I’ll sit this one out.

Tips

Back Surrey to beat Somerset for a 4/10 stake at 1.73 with Coral
