2017 Shanghai Masters Snooker – Day 2 Betting Preview

The first round of the Shanghai Masters concludes in the Chinese city on Tuesday with the exception of one match as players yet to compete do so and look to book their spot in the last 32 of this competition.

The big names largely made it through on Monday with just Ryan Day falling and plenty more will be looking to follow them on Tuesday including Judd Trump, Mark Selby, John Higgins and Barry Hawkins. We are all set for a fascinating day.

Early Morning Session

The action kicks off with just two matches in the early session when Judd Trump takes on Alfie Burden and Barry Hawkins goes up against Daniel Wells. Both matches are on the live streaming consoles for those who are up late in the UK.

Morning Session

John Higgins is the star name on show and having beaten Alexander Ursenbacher in his held over match on Monday he will play Ian Preece in the first round on the TV table. Mark Selby is in action against Chris Wakelin on the other live table. Elsewhere Cao Yupeng will go up against Michael Holt, Yuan Sijun plays Robbie Williams, Liang Wenbo faces John Astley while Joe Perry plays Matt Selt in what looks a good game. Dominic Dale meets Alan McManus in a battle of the veterans in the other match.

Afternoon Session

All eyes will be on Luca Brecel in this session. He has arrived late in China after competing in the Champion of Champions on Saturday evening. That could give Matthew Stevens an advantage. They are on one TV table and Ali Carter faces Stuart Carrington on the other. On the outside tables Mei Xiwen will face Adam Duffy, Rory McLeod will meet Stephen Maguire, Li Yuan plays Martin Gould, Hossein Vafaei goes up against Marco Fu and Soheil Vahedi plays Gerard Greene.

Betting

I’m going with two bets on Tuesday. Cao Yupeng is having a good season and in Chinese conditions I fancy he can get the better of Michael Holt who is not in the greatest form at the minute. Holt probably rates as the better player but Yupeng can score well and has a decent tactical battle. He is not the player you want to face when results have been on the slim side in recent times so I’ll take the Chinese player there.

Later in the afternoon I just have to take Marco Fu on with Hossein Vafaei. I mentioned last week that Fu is in no form whatsoever and he duly lost to Michael White in the first round in Coventry. Hossein Vafaei is still having visa problems but I would have expected him to have pulled out by now if he is having them here. The last time we saw him he made the quarter final of the English Open so unlike Fu he is playing well. He has had solid runs in China before and can launch another with a win here.

Tips

WON – Back C.Yupeng to beat M.Holt for a 4/10 stake at 2.63 with Coral

Back H.Vafaei to beat M.Fu for a 3/10 stake at 3.40 with Bet365
