2017 Specsavers County Championship – Friday 26th May Matches Betting Preview

The remainder of the latest round of Specsavers County Championship matches begin on Friday and there are some big fixtures among them in both divisions. We are firmly in the middle of a spell of four day cricket and the weather is set fair in most places so this should be a great week of action.

We have a couple of matches in the first division and four more in the second division on a busy weekend of matches with both tables likely to take significant movements over the next four days.

Division One

The headline match of the weekend comes from Chelmsford as the top two meet when Essex host Surrey. Essex have a one point lead at the top of the table heading into the clash. The other match in the division sees bottom of the pile Somerset hosting Hampshire at Taunton.

Division Two

The leaders in the second division welcome mid-table Gloucestershire to Trent Bridge but the big clash of the division seeing second placed Kent hosting Sussex at Tunbridge Wells. Worcestershire are flying this season and head to Northants who are one place below them in the table while Glamorgan and Durham meet at Swansea.

Betting

I’m tempted by a couple of bets this week but in the end I’ve just decided to go with one. It looks like I’m going to land a bet on the Thursday match so there is no need to force it and ruin a good start to the week.

The bet I like is on Glamorgan who I fancy might be getting Durham at the right time. Not only are Durham without Mark Wood who is on England duty but they are without Graham Onions too and while Barry McCarthy is back having no Wood or Onions are big losses and I’m not convinced Durham will cope.

Glamorgan are nothing special and I must admit a change of captaincy at this stage of the season is a concern but Michael Hogan sounds up for the fight and that is half of the battle. Glamorgan should be buzzing after their wonderful final day rear-guard against Nottinghamshire at the beginning of the week whereas Durham have only had a day off from a physical beating from Sussex. At odds against Glamorgan look a big price.

Tips
