2017 Specsavers County Championship – Friday 2nd June Matches Betting Preview

While all the eyes of the cricketing world is on the Champions Trophy at the minute it shouldn’t be forgotten that the Specsavers County Championship is ongoing and in that competition we have matches beginning in both divisions on Friday.

In all there are six matches which will be covered by the county social media and the various local radio stations and for some counties this is a very big week.

Division One

With the top two not playing this week there is a chance for the other six sides to play catch up. Hampshire begin the week eight points off top spot and they will be hoping to move to the top when they host Warwickshire. Middlesex and Somerset both have games in hand of the top two and one of those comes when they meet at Lord’s this week while Yorkshire host Lancashire in a Roses clash.

Division Two

We have a top vs near bottom clash at Trent Bridge when the leaders Nottinghamshire host Derbyshire. Heading into the season Sussex and Worcestershire were well touted for promotion. Worcestershire have lived up to that expectation and will hope to continue to do so when they head to Hove to face the Sharks while Durham host Northamptonshire in the other match.

Betting

I considered taking a few bets this week but annoying the England Lions are in action which has taken a good degree of talent away from the picture and makes sides who did look attractive less so.

One team which do still stand out to me are Worcestershire, a side I’ve been keen on all summer without being disappointed. They head to Sussex who are immediately worth swerving on the back of Luke Wright giving up the captaincy. Players don’t give up that privilege if all is well in the camp so that is an immediate concern and being brutally honest their batting line up looks very weak especially at the top.

It must be confessed that the shenanigans going on with Tom Kohler-Cadmore are less than ideal for Worcestershire but his absence will offer an opportunity to someone and Worcestershire have a good enough squad to cope. I think they have a bowling attack in great form and a batting line up looking strong and at 5/6 I’ll go with them against an out of sorts Sussex.

Tips

Back Worcestershire to beat Sussex for a 4/10 stake at 1.83 with Skybet
