2017 Specsavers County Championship – Friday 9th June Matches Betting Preview

While the Champions Trophy continues to go on the County Championship hasn’t been forgotten and there are seven matches which begin on Friday as both divisions begin to intensify before the break for the T20 Blast.

We have three matches in the top division on Friday and four more in the second division so there is plenty to go at and enjoy even though there is no TV coverage of them.

Division One

With the leaders Hampshire not playing this week there is a chance for the sides in second and third to overtake them and claim top spot and as luck would have it they meet in Guildford when Surrey in third host Essex in second. Champions Middlesex head to Southport to go up against Lancashire while Somerset host Yorkshire in Taunton.

Division Two

Second division leaders Nottinghamshire head to Bristol to take on Gloucestershire this week while third placed Worcestershire play host to Glamorgan at New Road. Northants are trying to cling on to the top two and they take on Derbyshire at Northampton with the other match seeing a resurgent Sussex heading to Leicester to face Leicestershire.

Betting

I only like one in this round of matches and it is on the champions Middlesex up at Southport. Middlesex need to start picking up wins on the road because they are hard to come by at Lord’s at the minute and this could be the ideal chance to do that.

It isn’t ideal that Steven Finn is with England especially as it looks like he isn’t going to be used but in Toby Roland-Jones, Tim Murtagh, Tom Helm and James Harris they don’t lack for seam options. There is no Jimmy Anderson for Lancashire so their attack is significantly weakened which makes Middlesex look well worth supporting this week.
