2017 Specsavers County Championship – Tuesday 19th September Matches Betting Preview

The penultimate week of the Specsavers County Championship is upon us and while the destiny of the Division One title has been decided there remains plenty to be determined over the next two weeks with lots of significant cricket still to be played.

There are eight matches in the latest round of games which get underway on Tuesday with many of the counties at home now streaming their action allowing us to keep up with everything.

Division One

The big game in the division this week comes from Lord’s as the champions Middlesex look to ease their way out of the relegation zone when they host second placed Lancashire. Somerset came out of the bottom three last week and head to The Oval to take on Surrey while Yorkshire and Warwickshire meet in a lower end of the table clash at Headingley. Hampshire host the champions Essex in the other match.

Division Two

There is a huge clash in this division as third placed Northamptonshire host second placed Nottinghamshire in a match the latter will be all but promoted from if they avoid defeat and will go back to the top of the table with a win. The other three matches sees Durham hosting Sussex, Derbyshire taking on Kent and Glamorgan playing host to Gloucestershire.

Betting

I’m going with a pair of bets in this second to last round of matches. Essex might have won the title but they will be keen to finish the season well especially as they haven’t lost yet whereas Hampshire aren’t really going anywhere. Bonus points alone will be enough to keep Hampshire in the division so the side who have been by far the best team in the country this year should have too much at a decent price.

Gloucestershire look a big price at Glamorgan too. Glamorgan are blooding some young batsmen in the match and a decent Gloucestershire attack should be licking their lips at that. Glamorgan have been wretched at home this season and it won’t be lost on them that the Bristol based outfit have a great record in this match up. With their attack against an inexperienced batting line up I expect them to extend that here.

Tips

WON – Back Essex to beat Hampshire for a 4/10 stake at 1.80 with Boylesports
