2017 World Open Snooker – Semi-Finals Betting Preview

It is semi-final Saturday at the World Open in Yushan with two tasty tussles to enjoy over the course of the morning and afternoon to kick the weekend into life. The four men remaining in the tournament are no strangers to winning big events so we should get a thrilling conclusion to the event.

We’re up to the best of 11 frames for these semi-finals which should see the quality increase again, if that is even possible after an incredible set of quarter finals.

Kyren Wilson vs Mark Allen

Two men who are in good touch take each other on in the first of the semi-finals when Kyren Wilson faces Mark Allen for a place in the final. Allen has a real liking for this tournament having won it on two previous occasions but he will be up against it here.

Wilson was quite brilliant in demolishing Mark Williams in the quarter final. After losing the first frame he won five on the spin without dropping a single point and with three centuries along the way. It was the best performance of the season and if he is in that form he will be tough to beat.

We know Allen will not give in without a fight but Wilson has a really good all-round game and when you add in the way he is scoring to that he is going to be tough to beat. I’ll go with him at odds against.

Luca Brecel vs Ding Junhui

The second semi-final will be the one the crowds are more interested in as Luca Brecel takes on their hero Ding Junhui for a place in Sunday’s final. Brecel will be looking to make his second Chinese final of the season having won the China Championship earlier in the campaign.

I think the Belgian will have his work cut out here. He has had to go to a deciding frame in each of the previous two rounds as his safety has been lax at the wrong times and if that continues then Ding will feast all over that.

Ding himself wasn’t at his best in the quarter final but he still banged in a couple of centuries in overcoming Li Hang. I think he’ll have too much for Brecel over the course of this distance.
