2017 World Series of Darts Finals – Day 2 Betting Preview

The second night of the Ladbrokes World Series of Darts finals sees the second round of the tournament being played and this is the stage in which the seeded players enter the fray so the quality is expected to rise significantly.

We saw a number of shocks on the opening night of the tournament with the likes of Mensur Suljovic, Dave Chisnall and Adrian Lewis exiting the event before they really got into it but the line up looks good for Saturday.

First Four Matches

James Wade gets the night started when he takes on Simon Stevenson for a place in the quarter finals on Sunday. They are followed by Raymond Barneveld and Dimitri van den Bergh before potentially the most interesting match comes along between Gerwyn Price and Corey Cadby. Even if the darts are terrible that will be a good watch. Gary Anderson takes on the man he sponsored in Chris Dobey in match four.

Later Four Matches

Peter Wright will get the second half of the night going when he takes on the dangerous Justin Pipe before Michael van Gerwen begins his title defence. He faces the German youngster Max Hopp. The last two matches should be excellent as Daryl Gurney plays Simon Whitlock in a rerun of the World Grand Prix final while Kyle Anderson takes on Rob Cross to end the night.

Betting

This is another night where going mad is not advised but there are two bets which I like the look of over the course of the evening with a couple of outsiders being overpriced.

Dimitri van den Bergh was the pick of the players on the opening night of the tournament and while consistency has never been his strength if he can show the form which took him past Michael Smith then he could see off a potentially rusty Raymond Barneveld. Barneveld never truly convinces in these lesser tournaments and with the motivation likely to be high in the Belgian as he tries to prove himself at this level he’s worth a bet.

The match between Gerwyn Price and Corey Cadby is going to be spiky. They are two players who don’t back down at any stage so aggression will be high and it will be a good watch as a result. Everybody knows Cadby will be around for a while but he is still inexperienced on the big stage and he didn’t produce a great performance on Friday night. Price will be up for this and with his experience at this level I think he has to be taken here.
