2018-19 Premier League – Everton vs Man City Betting Preview

There is a rearranged match in the Premier League on Wednesday night and it just so happens to be a huge fixture as Manchester City look to go back to the top of the table. They head to Goodison Park to take on Everton knowing a win will see them replace Liverpool at the head of proceedings.

Everton are struggling at the minute but they have a match where there is no pressure on them in this one and it is possible that we could see their dangerous side. All the attention is on City and it will be interesting to see how they cope.

Everton

The Toffees are in a bit of a slump both in results and in performances. When you consider the amount of money that has been spent on their squad in recent times there is no doubt they are underperforming and it is about time that they began to show their credentials. Worryingly for Everton, this is not the first side Marco Silva has flattered to deceive with.

The big problem for Everton has been defensively where they just can’t seem to keep set pieces out of the back of their own net. They are a much better side moving forward but even then they lack an out and out centre forward which their style is crying out for. When they do put it all together they are good to watch but always look vulnerable.

Man City

I think most people were expecting Manchester City to be a lot more dominant than they have been this season. They have already dropped more points this term than they did in the entirety of the previous one and defeats away to Newcastle last week is so unlike them. They have a good mojo on their own ground at the minute but they haven’t looked quite as convincing on the road it must be said.

The one thing we can expect of Pep Guardiola and his men here is the knowledge of how big this match could be in the overall title picture and it would be a surprise if City were not bang on it here. If they are to win this match I think we would all expect them to score goals so it will come down to how convincing they can be in defence.

Team News

Everton will welcome Lucas Digne back from suspension here and also Idrissa Gueye comes back from injury but they will be without the injured trio of Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines and Yerry Mina for this contest.

Benjamin Mendy could return to the City side for this match but Vincent Kompany has been ruled out of the contest. Leroy Sane didn’t start the Arsenal match at the weekend but he could come back into the side.

Betting

I think that given that Everton have scored in all but one of their home matches this season but that Man City are the better of the two sides although still have weaknesses defensively with just two clean sheets in 12, we would be wise to expect goals to come from this match. The goal line for this one is exactly 3 which looks attackable.

With the way that Everton are defending at the minute City could easily cover that line on their own but there is enough evidence to suggest that the Toffees will find the back of the net so I think the logical way to attack this match is to take over 3 and enjoy what should be a contest full of attacking football.
