2018-19 Premier League – Saturday 16th March Matches Betting Preview

With the FA Cup quarter finals taking place this weekend there are only three Premier League matches on Saturday afternoon, all of them at the traditional kick off time which means that none of them are on TV for those of us in the UK.

We have to wait for later in the weekend for the higher profile matches but events at the bottom of the table will unfold over the course of Saturday afternoon so for many of the six teams in action it looks like a big day.

Bournemouth vs Newcastle United

The Vitality Stadium will host one of the three matches as Bournemouth go up against Newcastle United in a match between two mid-table sides who should be absolutely fine now in terms of avoiding relegation.

Both teams should be looking at the top half of the table from here on in and with the pressure off the pair I’m expecting an entertaining game of football. We know Bournemouth will take the game to their opponents and with David Brooks and Callum Wilson back they have their goal threat in place while Newcastle have a real threat on the counter attack now with Miguel Almiron in their ranks and with Ayoze Perez.

With that in mind, I think the even money on over 2.5 goals could be a little big to ignore here. Three of the last four meetings between these two have covered this line and I see no reason why this one will not go the same way. I’ll take the over.

Burnley vs Leicester City

Burnley get the chance to pick up three valuable points when they play host to Leicester City at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon. The Clarets are only two points above the drop so victory here would be very welcome. Leicester will hope to push on and establish themselves in the top 10.

After a revival around the turn of the year, Burnley have now lost their last three matches and while they have shown plenty of spirit in those games it is results that they need not spirit. Leicester are understandably in an inconsistent spell with Rodgers finding his feet at the King Power Stadium. This is a no bet game for me although I sense Burnley could be a big price.

West Ham United vs Huddersfield Town

The other match sees West Ham United hosting a doomed Huddersfield Town at the London Stadium in a match where the home side look to have a penalty kick to move closer to the two sides above them in the race for seventh place.

West Ham should win this. Huddersfield are terrible and have only picked up points of any kind in eight matches out of the 30 they have played this term and only scored 15 goals in that time too. That said, West Ham can be extremely inconsistent and at odds on I can let them win I think. West Ham -1 could be worth a play but I’m well aware there is a lot of football this weekend so I’ll just play the one bet here.
