2018-19 Premier League – Saturday 27th April Matches Betting Preview

The Premier League continues with six matches over the course of Saturday and with the title picture parked until Sunday, it is the top four, seventh spot and that battle to avoid the drop which take centre stage on the day.

Once again we have a Saturday with three kick off times despite the relative shortage of matches and with a couple of derby clashes on the schedule and teams looking to prove their worth there should be much to enjoy.

Early Kick Off

The action begins at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where Spurs host their London rivals West Ham in a match which is much bigger for the former than the latter, but which the Hammers would love to win to put a spanner in the works of Tottenham finishing in the top four and guaranteeing Champions League football next season without having to win the tournament this time around. Tottenham need to win to keep the chasing pack at bay and know the time for slip ups has been and gone.

3pm Matches

There are only four matches on what looks like quite a tricky 3pm card. The big match comes from Craven Cottage where already relegated Fulham could go some way to ensuring that Cardiff City join them in the Championship next season with the visitors needing to win quite badly. The other key match comes in the race to finish seventh where the teams in eighth and seventh take each other in at Vicarage Road when Watford host Wolves in a repeat of that FA Cup semi-final from earlier in the month.

The other two matches should be entertaining enough to watch. Everton still have an outside chance of the top seven but they probably need to win out to get it. That needs to start when they head to London to take on Crystal Palace while Southampton can mathematically ensure their safety should they beat Bournemouth at St Mary’s Stadium.

Late Game

All eyes are back on the bottom of the table in the final match of the afternoon as Brighton and Hove Albion face Newcastle United. This was going to be billed as a relegation six pointer but with the Magpies securing their safety with recent results it is all down to Brighton to see what they have to offer. If Cardiff lose earlier in the day then the Seagulls can all but secure their safety with a win here given the goal difference advantage they have on the Bluebirds. Anything else and the struggles roll on.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets across the card on Saturday. The first one comes at St Mary’s Stadium where I’m expecting quite a lively match. Southampton have scored a lot more goals at home under Ralph Hasenhuttl while Bournemouth matches are full of goals wherever they are played. There is much more confidence and an intent to attack for the Saints in front of their own fans these days and those supporters respond positively to that. It will predominantly be on the counter attack here but Bournemouth love to go forward so I’m seeing over 2.5 goals as having a good chance here.

I can’t be having Brighton and I certainly can’t be having them as short as they are. Newcastle United might not be playing for a whole lot, which explains the prices available, but they usually finish seasons well and are so much better than this Brighton side it is untrue. How a side without even a goal in six matches and just eight shots on target in that time can be favourites in any match let alone one like this is beyond me but rather than complain I’m happy to get on the visitors with the quarter ball line that we are getting on the Asian handicaps.
