2018-19 Premier League – Saturday 29th December Matches Betting Preview

The final set of matches in the Premier League in 2018 get underway on Saturday when there are six fixtures to kick off the second half of the campaign. With this game and another to follow in the New Year there is a lot to play for in the top division.

There are only two kick off times on what is a relatively low key Saturday until the late game which should be a cracker and may give us another indication of where the title might be heading come the end of the season.

3pm Matches

There are five matches in the usual kick off slot with a number of home sides fancying their chances. Brighton and Hove Albion are one of them when they take on Everton at the Amex Stadium while the bottom two meet at Craven Cottage as Fulham play host to Huddersfield Town. Leicester will look to build on their fine win over Manchester City when they play host to lowly Cardiff City.

Wembley Stadium will be the scene when Tottenham Hotspur look to move within three points of Liverpool for a few hours when they host a dangerous Wolverhampton Wanderers side while the other match in the afternoon games sees Watford taking on Newcastle United at Vicarage Road.

Late Game

The leaders Liverpool are in action in the final match of the day when they play host to Arsenal who will be looking to pick up the three points which will move them up to fourth place overnight. Liverpool have the chance to move 10pts clear of Manchester City ahead of the champions playing on Sunday afternoon. This is one of the bigger tests of the season so far for Liverpool so we’ll get a clearer picture of just how they are coping with their new found status of title favourites in this one.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets on Saturday with both of them being home sides. Fulham came off the bottom of the table on Boxing Day when they held Wolverhampton Wanderers and they can put four points between themselves and Huddersfield Town when they take on the Terriers at Craven Cottage. Only a lack of luck in front of goal denied Fulham the win over Wolves but there is no doubt that they have improved under Claudio Ranieri. Huddersfield are a poor side and with Aaron Mooy out there is a lack of creativity in their ranks. When these two met in Yorkshire both stunk the place out but Fulham can make up for that with a win here.

Leicester City have had a blinding Christmas so far with a win at Chelsea and another victory over Manchester City and they should get the hat trick of wins when they play host to a Cardiff City side who have been little better than terrible on the road this season. They picked up just their second point away from Wales this term when they drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace on Boxing Day but how they escaped Selhurst Park without an almighty beating only the woodwork at that venue will know. For some reason every Crystal Palace forward lost their composure in front of goal when chances came their way. I don’t expect Leicester to do the same and this really should be a comfortable home win.
